 Summit Academy Schools address the academic and social needs of students with Asperger’s Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS) and related conditions. We are guided by the belief that every child can learn, given the proper instructional environment.
We adhere to the theory of multiple intelligences in concept and in instructional design. Summit Academy is designed as a therapeutic school, with an instructor-student ratio of 2:15. Currently, we operate 27 schools in the state of Ohio and serve approximately 2,000 students.
The Summit Academy Therapeutic Education Model has identified a hierarchy of needs that children must have to be successful in life. For effective learning to occur, it is necessary that the student possess a sufficient repertoire of adaptive skills. Our typical students are "hands-on" learners, so the inclusion of interactive programs maximizes the effectiveness of their learning process.
